I want to serve because I believe that is not enough to give voice to problems... at some point, action needs to support our values and philosophies. I believe in the city of Akron and hope to be able to be a part of the work of realizing the many goals and initiatives in place to make greater Akron, and Summit County as a whole, better.
Serving on a board allows me to strengthen my knowledge and my network, while at the same time giving my experience and time to organizations I believe in. So, I can give, grow, and learn all in one place.
I am seeking a board position to broaden my professional network, enhance my professional skills, and contribute my expertise towards an organizations vision.
I am interested in exploring organizations to serve on their board, and would look for alignment of mission, vision, and values. I enjoy serving in the community, especially through board service. I see this as a way to make a difference, give back, and hopefully make the world a better place.
I served on various internal boards/women’s committees throughout my career. I have always enjoyed volunteering to support growth and opportunities for others. I have a tremendous amount of global organizational experience and started looking at mentoring programs, and opportunities to support others.
I believe that I can use my expertise and skills as a board member to make a difference in a local company or community organization. I enjoy collaborating with other motivated individuals with diverse backgrounds to bring forward new ideas. I have served on the Hudson school district diversity & inclusion committee over the past few years and now that my kids are older I want to get even more involved in community organizations. I’m seeking an opportunity to impact the lives of the Akron area community. Areas of interest include parks/recreation, children, and young adults. My talents include strategic planning, marketing, business development, and event activities.
While I have been active on chamber, small nonprofit, and city boards and the Hudson Community Foundation Board; I am hoping to locate more "cause-specific" non-profit organizations to partner with. I hope to have a greater impact on my regional community by serving on a non-profit board that I am particularly passionate about. I find so much value in knowing my time is being used to support an incredible cause.

I volunteer a lot, 17 years with the Girl Scouts, 6 with the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, going on 2 with the Summit County Italian American Council. I am looking for more ways to give back to the community and expand my leadership background and learn new things.

Originally from India, have wide-ranging professional and personal experiences in balancing highest caliber of professional success, while balancing it with the multifaceted challenges of the immigrant experience, racism, being a female professor in STEM fields while maintaining integrity and rising above the fray.I am actively involved in outreach and volunteering activities especially for women in STEM fields, under-represented groups, and immigrant women and kids. I am also passionate about communicating the excitement of cutting-edge research in STEM fields and the challenges involved as an "intersectional" scientist. I have been interviewed many times on NPR, and have featured in an award-winning documentary film directed by the famous Werner Herzog. I would like to serve on the ENLI board because I am eager to expand my knowledge about the specific challenges and opportunities that women face in improving their professional nd personal lives in the greater Akron area. This city has the heart and the ability to flourish and lead again, like it once did, with imagination and inclusivity-focussed idea and initiatives. I humbly believe that my experiences could contribute in these efforts, while I would myself grow and learn from such service.

Through my work, I experienced firsthand the importance of giving your time, talent, and treasure and how simple actions can have a significant impact. I find volunteering rewarding and want to use my talents and position to be able to help the community.
I want to be part of something that will allow me to assist at least 1 person with their objective of improving the quality of their own lives. As well as, helping them to position themselves to help another individual improve the quality of theirs.
Serving on a board would provide me with a platform to make meaningful contributions, collaborate with diverse perspectives, and help steer the region to reach its potential. I hope to meet new people and learn about the world outside my bubble.
Service is part of who I am, I have organized service events and fundraising for more than a dozen non-profit organizations. Including: March of Dimes, Akron Childrens Hospital, CornerStone Rehab, Battered Womens Shelter, and St. Francis de Sales. I truly love helping the under privileged. Being a Women in a Mans Field, I have served on many Women panels including GAC, I run multiple girls in STEM organizations and I serve on the Bridgestone Women Network Board. As a member of the Board I will shorten the Gap for Akron Women. I will be a supportive member and make the best choice for our community.
